Up Close / Reese
/We were lucky enough to have Reese of Yes Supply as a contributor to ISSUE 03 and we'd love for you to get to know her better! Read on and discover her passions (and quirks) in this Q&A!
WHO ARE YOU? / I love to be funny and make people laugh. I'm passionate about helping people find their own passion and go after the kind of life that they've always dreamed of.
I think too many female creatives stop themselves from going after their dreams because they have fear- fear that it won't work out, fear of what other people might think, fear of really being as amazing as they can be or fear that they just don't know how.
I created yes supply to be a place of empowerment. High on our list of priorities is giving female creatives and budding entrepreneurs the tools, help, and skills that they need to find their purpose and turn it into a lifestyle they love. We interview, host free workshops, and masterclasses with female entrepreneurs who have found their 'yes' in life and want to share their experience, learnings and lessons with those who want to make it happen for themselves too. We believe in community and competition. When women stick together, instead of compete, truly anything is possible!
WHERE DO YOU BELONG? / I belong in a community of ambitious entrepreneurs, goal-getters and creatives who want to push through their fears and create the life for themselves they've always dreamed of. I grew up in a single-parent household and I didn't have anything handed to me. Every opportunity that came my way, I had to fight for. I want to show women that it's worth it to fight for what you love and what you want to achieve, and that anything is possible with the right passion and dedication
WHAT IS YOUR"WHY"? / My why is to help people get out of their own way! So many of us take "no" for an answer, and the sad thing is that a lot of the time, those "no's" come from ourselves. There's that voice in your head that says, "You're not good enough," and "You won't succeed."
In my "good morning beautiful" daily emails, I help women start their days with focus and create the strength of mindset that you need to overcome the hurdles and create the career, business, or lifestyle you love.
HOW DID YOU GET HERE? / I created yes supply as something that was a true extension of me. I jotted down all the things I like, all the things that I'm passionate about, and how I love to spend my time. When I mapped it out, yes supply was such a natural progression.
Once I got started doing this, I realized there was a whole community of other bloggers, entrepreneurs and coaches who were doing what I was doing. At first, I felt a tinge of fear of competition. But I quickly realized that we're all a community, helping each other out and motivating and changing people's lives every day. When you approach a situation with the outlook that you can help someone else, instead of compete with them, you will always win. You create new friendships and are able to rise to the top together.
IF WE WALKED INTO YOUR LIFE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY, WHAT WOULD WE SEE? / A lot of tabs open on my browser....I'm trying to work on that.
My day to day changes, but a lot of it is talking to my community on social media, working with my yes supply insiders creating more courses and workshops for them to learn the skills they need to help build their own businesses and yes supply life.
I'm constantly writing emails for my "good morning beautiful" subscribers who are the ones who have signed up for the insiders and want to receive motivation and the accountability needed to stay on track with their goals.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT? / The secret to getting ahead is getting started. I had a print that said that. It was what kept me motivated when I was first starting out. Even though at the time, I didn't know where my journey was going to take me, I knew I had to try and make my dream and vision a reality. With an online community of over 10,000 ambitious women and people emailing me every day saying that I've inspired them to go after their dreams, I know I made the right decision.
FAVORITE SOCIAL MEDIA TOOL? / Instagram
FAVORITE READ? / My day planner- it keeps me super organized and on task.
WHAT IS YOUR UNIFORM? / I wish I could say I was doing the Steve Jobs thing and just wearing a turtleneck every day. There would be so much less decision making. I'm a creative at heart so my outfits change based on my mood and how I feel. I fluctuate between androgynous, minimal and a hint of girly. I used to be a stylist, so if I'm not expressing myself through fashion, I get a little bored.
TELL US A SECRET! / Everyone feels fear. I get anxious all the time. Before I send a huge email blast, before I do an interview with someone truly inspiring (and a little intimidating). But you know what? Outside of your comfort zone is where the magic happens, so let yourself get a bit uncomfortable and watch amazing things happen to your life and business.
UMBRELLA OR SUNGLASSES? / Sunglasses
INTROVERT OR EXTROVERT? / Introvert
COFFEE OR TEA? / Tea
DIGITAL OR PRINT? / Digital
SANDALS OR SNOW BOOTS? / Sandals
HOME OR AWAY? / Away
EARLY BIRD OR NIGHT OWL? / Night Owl
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS YEAR? / One thing? I want to do it all.
LAST MOVIE YOU WATCHED? / Batman Vs. Superman- my fiance's pick
WHAT DO YOU DO TO STAY INSPIRED? / Take time to be by myself. I think when we are too influenced by TV, social media, and everything else going on, it can suck us into a space of negativity, jealousy and keeping up with the joneses. By spending time alone, I can reconnect with what's happening in my life and what I've been through and the lessons I learned. I can be raw and honest with my community and when I share how I've been through certain situations, or learned from an experience, the women I share my story with react so much more. They get it and they can feel the honesty in it.
CURRENT FAVORITE SONG? / One Dance- Drake
BIGGEST QUIRK? / I'm not great at small talk. Every party I go to, I end up having the deepest conversation about life and goals with like one person, away from the action.
GUILTY PLEASURE? / Sleeping in my bed with way to many pillows and the fluffiest marshmallow blankets.
